Attention: Agility Dog Owners, Handlers and Trainers

Your canine fitness roadmap to reduce injury, improve fitness, and accelerate your agility dog’s performance is here now!

A canine fitness course for dogs participating in agility - regardless of level.

I AM READY!

Why an agility-specific fitness course?

Agility has many physical challenges that any dog should be prepared to meet, whether they are dabblers or international competitors.

As course designs and handling techniques have evolved, the sport of agility is becoming increasingly more physically demanding for our canine companions. We do not have control over course design or the weather, but we DO have control over our dog's fitness level to ensure they are prepared and ready to meet all the training and competition challenges.

I want you to think critically about your agility dog.

🤔 Can you identify any physical requirements for the sport of agility that your dog could improve upon? For example, tighter turns or more power.

🤔 Are you noticing any performance concerns that you want to improve upon? For example, improving course times and better contact completion.

This course will help you reflect on these questions and understand potential areas of weakness in your dog, so you can develop and formulate an action plan to improve these weaknesses and turn them into strengths!

DID YOU KNOW...

In a recent poll, 48% of agility competitors said they are NOT consistent with their canine fitness routines and programs - missing out on huge benefits - no human athlete only trains sport-specific skills - let's make it easy for you!

🙋‍♀️ Do you need help determining the most APPROPRIATE EXERCISES for your agility dog? ➡️
We cover agility-specific exercises that mimic how a dog moves in agility!

🙋‍♀️ Do you need help FINDING THE TIME to complete canine fitness with your dog? ➡️ With as little as 10 minutes per day, three times per week, you can see significant results.

🙋‍♀️ Do you FEEL UNSUPPORTED in your canine fitness journey? ➡️ Our expert coaches will provide support and feedback throughout the course.

🙋‍♀️ Do you get bogged down with what EQUIPMENT TO USE and then give up? ➡️ We offer suggestions on DIY equipment (you may already have some items at home!) and show you exercises that use minimal to no equipment.

Agility Fit! is here to alleviate any concerns you may have to ensure you and your dog can maximize your success in the gym, be consistent and save time with exercises that will truly make a difference!

DID YOU KNOW...

Over 50% of agility competitors do NOT follow any specific fitness program - human research has shown that athletes need a higher level of specificity and variability in their workout programs to continue to make gains! Without this, we plateau. Stop wasting your time with courses and exercises that will not challenge your dog or work the muscles they need in their sport!

I WANT TO HEAR FROM OTHER STUDENTS

This course is for agility dog owners, trainers and handlers who:

  • Want to reduce their dog’s chances of injury.
  • Are looking to learn agility-specific exercises.
  • Believe in the importance of identifying their dog's strengths and weaknesses.
  • Have dogs who are over 10 months of age.
  • Want to save time and get faster results in the canine gym.
  • Want to know how to get most of their agility dogs at the right time.
  • Want to learn how to set up a canine fitness training program to complement their goals!

This course is not for agility dog owners, trainers and handlers who:

  • Don't believe in injury prevention.
  • Are looking for general workouts.
  • Don't believe in the importance of understanding their dog's strengths and weaknesses.
  • Are looking to improve their foundation behaviours.
  • Have dogs who are under 10 months of age.
  • Want to continue training on their own and without support.
  • Don't want to follow agility-specific exercises.
  • Can't commit to doing 10-minute workouts, three times per week.

Like elite human athletes, helping your dog be at their peak physical form takes planning, organization, and the right exercises.

If you want your dog to qualify for big events, such as the US Open, Cynosports, AKC Invitational, West Coast Open, Canadian Open, or World Team Tryouts, then Agility Fit! is the right course for you. It's never too early to start training.

This is one of Coach Carolyn McIntyre's dogs, Keeper, when she qualified to represent Team Canada at the Agility World Championship in the fall of 2023!

The FDHE will help you determine the following:

  • Your dog’s starting point in the canine gym and their knowledge of various foundation behaviours.
  • If your dog is well-balanced or has weaknesses or preferred movement patterns.
  • If your dog is aligned and utilizes the left and right sides of their body evenly.
  • Your dog’s baseline fitness score can be measured and tracked over time in your canine fitness journey!

And if that's not enough, there are THREE additional bonuses you will get at no charge

BONUS #1:

WHAT ARE YOUR OPTIONS?

Stay right where you are and struggle to meet your training and performance goals.

Go your own way and figure out how to train it yourself, which will take TIME and EFFORT and can quickly become discouraging.

OR...

Let's do it together! We learn better when we work together and have a community to support us. Get the results you want and get the guidance you need to succeed!

In Agility Fit!, we implement a layered approach to canine fitness.

What does this mean? 🤷‍♂️
A layered approach means we only add small and gradual challenges to an exercise when our dog is showing both an understanding of the exercise and is able to physically complete it with the proper form.

Layered learning = more clarity, confidence, less frustration and faster progress.

Hear from other Agility Fit! students:

Diane Egan and Cappy

"I joined Agility Fit! because I wanted sport-specific exercises and warm-ups. I thought I knew his strengths and weaknesses well, but I learned more through the various exercises.

As with all of Carolyn’s classes, I continued to value how working through the multiple levels helps to hone in on how our dogs function and how it all comes together in their performance on the course. I had given in to the idea that he wasn’t built for tight wraps and turns, and I was pleased to have been proven wrong.

Other significant improvements noted were improved striding and body awareness."

Jan Vlasak and Fetch, Ghita, Venus, and Jif

"This course was the missing link in our agility training routine. I owe it to my dogs to provide optimal health and injury prevention and detect areas of weakness when asking them to participate in this sport I love.

This course offers a well-rounded whole-body workout with each new module, and a huge bonus is noticeably improved impulse control and my working relationship with my dogs. The demo videos, downloads, and Zoom calls provide excellent education, instruction, and progression for any learning style.

Agility Fit! is fun and chock full of unique gems. It keeps me motivated to continue on our canine fitness journey!"

Stacy Bols and Kermit

"My dog, Kermit, was selected for the prestigious World Agility Open, and knowing that the courses at this big event would demand so much more from her than we see at local trials, I knew I needed to find a program tailored to the physical demands. Agility Fit! was the answer.

This course was easy to follow and gave us targeted exercises to improve our power (important since Kermit was being asked to jump 10” instead of her regular height of 8”), better balance and coordination, and exercises specifically designed to improve her ability to collect, cardio to  handle the demands of a five-day event on HUGE courses, and improved flexibility and strength which paid off everywhere on the course."

Meaghan Ashleigh and Fawkes

"Fawkes and I were already members of Functional Fitness for the Active Dog but jumped at the chance for an agility-specific conditioning course; Agility Fit!

Carolyn’s exercise modules are so well explained, with different videos and instructions for each exercise level and include ways to progress and modify. Of course, The coaches and Carolyn are so helpful in the Facebook community and the other members! There is a real sense of community, encouragement, and accountability. Most notably, regarding the difference Agility Fit! made for Fawkes, I have noticed that he can wrap wings tighter due to the work on Collection and Flexibility. He also has increased muscle tone and power on his hind end from the Plyometric and Power exercises that are included throughout the course."

Kelly St. Jacques and Zuzu

"I’ve been involved in dog agility for almost 20 years and have competed twice at the World Agility Open. I signed up for Agility Fit! after doing previous courses with Carolyn, and I’m glad I did!

The exercise instructions and videos are clear and easy to follow, and the course format provides an incentive to try new things and motivation to put in the time for regular fitness work. With only short sessions (4-5 times per week), I saw Zuzu’s patience and comfort with the exercises increase markedly, and I can see a difference in her core strength and muscle tone.

Posting videos was easy and fun, and the feedback from the coaches helped me fine-tune exercises and figure out how to maximize the benefits of each exercise. We’re continuing to have fun with our fitness work!"

Let's Hear from Rebecca and Leo

Leo is 2 ½ years old and his owner, Rebecca, started him on canine conditioning and functional fitness so he can gain as much strength as possible to be able to handle the challenges of agility and is less likely to injure.

Some of Leo's weaknesses were his over-arousal in the trial setting and a lack of hind-end strength.

We started coaching Rebecca and Leo on agility-specific exercises, targeted to improve agility performance with the goal of turning his weaknesses into strengths.

Hear Rebecca talk about her experience in this video.
